Rushed hospital trip

A 37-YEAR-OLD Hillside woman was rushed to Sunshine Hospital last week after she was bitten by a snake last Friday.
A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Ambulance Service, Christine Paterson, told Star that paramedics rushed to a Hillside address about 11am to treat the woman.
They took her to Furlong Rd’s Sunshine Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Ms Paterson said the snake was black or brown.
Western Health spokesman Michael Sinclair said the woman was discharged from the hospital over the weekend.
He said she had been under observation for most of Friday since being admitted.
Sandy Fernee, from Wildlife Victoria said most snake bites were caused by people trying to deal with the animals themselves, when they should have called in a professional snake handler.
“Snakes are wildlife, they are protected,” she said.
“If people come across them they should leave them alone."
