WYNDHAM’S annual handmade craft fair is here to stay.
The annual Werribee Craft Festival Handmade Fair was on the brink of cancellation earlier this month due to renovations at the festival’s usual venue.
But a replacement venue was found and the community will continue to enjoy the festival which is also celebrating its 35th birthday.
Chairperson of the Werribee Craft Festival Committee Betty Parker said the event was an important part of the community and had been for a long time.
“It’s a very good family day out,” Ms Parker said.
“The younger ones sometimes might not be into crafty things but this sort of thing gives them an idea of things they can be making if they wanted to,” she said.
The festival is well-known for the high quality handmade items created by locals and others which be sold across 65 stalls.
From greeting cards to toys and home décor to Christmas goodies and jewellery, everything at the festival will be handmade.
“Everybody likes to buy something handmade and everything is handmade from the stall holder themselves,” Ms Parker said.
“We have a variety of stallholders that come from all over Victoria,” she said.
“We picked the best of everything, it’s always quality,” she said.
Ms Parker said the committee assessed products to ensure quality was always the highest.
Children can also enjoy craft activities like making their own plaster painting and creating their own Christmas decorations and a visit from Chancie the Clown.
The free event can be enjoyed by everyone this Sunday 10 November from 9am-5pm at the Wyndham City Civic Centre.
