WYNDHAM music fans can polish their sunglasses, unplug their iPods and get ready to rock and roll as summer approaches.
Famous bands including Portishead, the Flaming Lips and Bright Eyes are set to perform at Werribee Park later this year.
Many other well-known acts will join them at ‘The Gathering’ music festival at Werribee Park on 12 November, such as The National, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, the Family Stone, Mercury Rev, Death In Vegas, The Walkmen, Dappled Cities and Kormac’s Big Band.
The musical event will see the legendary Bristol band Portishead returning to Australia after a 14 year absence.
The group helped popularise the musical genre “trip-hop” and their 1994 debut album ‘Dummy’ sold more than 150,000 copies in the United States.
Their second album, in 1997, reached the Top 10 in the United Kingdom and their newest 11-track album went live on the internet, attracting 327,000 listeners within 24 hours
‘The Gathering’, presented by Harvest, aims to present a European-style event including art installations, holistic markets and cocktail bars with visual and live arts. Tickets for the event are available at www.oztix.com.au and www.ticketek.com.au.
