THE hard work of talented art and technology students from Thomas Carr College was celebrated last week.
Over three days the college gymnasium was home to an exhibit that included a range of outstanding works from the school’s Year 7 to 12 art and technology students.
Head of learning for art and technology and teacher Michael Dalley said the exhibit was an opportunity to showcase the outstanding work students in their creative field.
The result was work from students studying art, studio arts, communication and design, metal, woodwork and food and textiles came together in a display that inspired and entertained.
More than 100 people visited the gymnasium to witness the diverse range of art and appreciate the hard work of students.
“It’s a chance to promote and recognise the excellent work student do and give them an opportunity to have their work displayed in a heightened public manner,” Mr Dalley said.
Mr Dalley said art and technology is an important part of the schools culture.
“We want to encourage students to make unique contributions (to art and technology).”
The exhibit featured everything from landscape paintings, furniture, and sculpture work to a fashion parade of work by the textile students.
Mr Dalley said it’s particularly special for the VCE students who will pursue tertiary study next year.
“A lot of them are going on to study in the arts and technology and a lot of them will go on and take this work into their careers,” Mr Dalley said.
