A DEDICATED group of Wyndham girls have continued to take their sport by storm, bringing home four gold medals, one silver and a bronze at the national championships last month.
The Werribee Drilldance Club are known throughout Australia as the team to beat when it comes to the highly competitive sport of Drilldance.
The Australian Championships were held in Sydney late last month and the girls once again blitzed the competition, with the under 12 team winning gold in all the categories it entered.
Club President Julie Melbourne said the girl’s dedication and energy carried them to victory.
“Performing with great energy was the key,” Ms Melbourne said.
“Our Under 12 team wowed the crowd with their routines and this pumped up our Under 17 and Senior teams for when it came their turn to perform”.
The 40 member club is a true community effort, with the girl’s mums making all their costumes.
“Much credit must go to our coaches who headed the creative process for all the routines, costumes and music,” Ms Melbourne said.
“Their passion for performance excellence is remarkable and we are so grateful for their dedication to the task.
“The team spirit was incredible and it was so great to have so many supporters from the club there cheering us on. Werribee has once again done so well. Our hard work over the past year has paid off.”
The teams will now enjoy a well-earned break for six weeks before resuming for the new season.
The Club is planning to introduce a new under nine team for next year.
