A FIRE broke out at a Werribee dry cleaners last week, with firefighters required to smash the front door of the business to gain access.
The fire brigade was called to Master Dry Cleaners at 61 Watton St just before 7pm last Thursday night after a passer-by noticed smoke coming out of the building.
They managed to contain the fire to one of the dry cleaning machines towards the back of the building, saving hundreds of items of clothes from being destroyed.
A CFA spokesperson told Star seven fire trucks attended the incident while police blocked the area to traffic.
The building was not damaged and fire investigators were expected to search the site on the night of the fire.
It is believed the fire started when oily rags that had been dried in one of the machines burst into flames.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire.
