A local personal trainer has set a new challenge for her clients, one that will help them and others too.
Tarneit resident Stephanie Cowell and her team Steph’s Super Heroes will take to the track this Mother’s Day, joining hundreds of other teams and individuals for the Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic.
“Being a personal trainer I thought it would be good to get the girls’ minds away from losing weight and instead put losing weight and exercising together in a way to help others,” Ms Cowell said.
The team has chosen to run the four kilometre track and Ms Cowell said it will be quite a challenge for them.
“Four kilometres for these girls is quite a lot and it’s quite scary but exciting at the same time,” she said.
Ms Cowell said the team has been training since registering about two months ago.
“We run around the gym which is about 2-3 km,” she said.
“I think they will be pumped and ready to go.”
The team has been working just as hard out of the gym to raise money for the charity.
“We’ve been asking family and friends and work colleagues to sponsor us,” Ms Cowell said.
“You don’t get many opportunities to raise money for breast cancer so it’s a great chance to do it.”
The run will be held on Sunday 12 May and is Australia’s biggest breast cancer research fundraiser having raised a record $4 million at last year’s event.
