THOUSANDS of shoppers passing by the windows of Myer’s Southland store will be able to see the handiwork of two talented Hoppers Crossing residents.
Marie Sheridan and Kristina Trajkovski, both aged 20, were among 11 Kangan Institute Centre of Fashion students who were selected to design and create window displays for the shop, which is located in Cheltenham.
As part of an assignment, the girls and their fellow students were required to come up with a “concept proposal” which adopted styling trends from this season.
They then presented the ideas to their class and Myer management, and spent a day creating the department store window displays.
Ms Sheridan worked on the homewares window display, while Ms Trajkovski was part of the fashion exhibition team.
“I get inspired by the windows of Bergdorf Goodman in America,” Ms Trajkovski said.
“What I enjoy about our course is all the hands-on opportunities we get, such as the Myer windows and when we designed dresses and hats for the Spring Racing Carnival with the theme ‘Green is the new black’ and we made them out of all natural fibres and they were on display at the fashion parade,” Ms Sheridan said.
Before they started at the Kangan Institute, both of the girls attended Thomas Carr College, one year apart, where they both enjoyed creative subjects and shared an interest in fashion.
“My dream job would be to work as Harper’s BAZAAR, which is a crazy thing which would never happen,” Ms Trajkovski said.
“I’d like to be a stylist for Vogue,” Ms Sheridan said.
The stylish pair will graduate from the Kangan Institute next week.
