MEET Braybrook’s newest fashionista in the making.
Year 10 Caroline Chisholm Catholic College student Thao Nguyen won $1000 recently after taking out the Australian Wool Innovation Award.
Thao, 15, won the award after designing a range of boys’ and girls’ school uniforms using three different types of wool fabric.
The uniforms were inspired by the preppy attire worn by the Dalton Academy Warblers, the all-boys choir that features on Channel 10 show Glee.
Thao designed the uniforms as part of her textiles assignment, with teacher Katrina Wheaton encouraging all students to apply for the competition.
Thao’s designs were brought to life by RM Williams and were paraded at the Sydney Easter Show.
β€œI was shocked, I didn’t expect (to win),” she said.
Thao, who aspires to become a lawyer, said being a fashion designer was now a possible career choice.
β€œIt’s definitely an option,” she said.
