COMMUNITY groups are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to $2,000 as part of the 2013 Williams Landing Neighbourhood Grants program.
Nominations are now open and not-for-profit community groups who provide services in the local area can now apply for the grants.
Through the initiative, Cedar Woods, the developer behind the Williams Landing master planned community, have provided financial assistance to over 70 community groups.
Sporting, welfare, culture and recreational community groups have shared $80,000 worth of funding for projects since 2009.
Cedar Woods Development Director Patrick Archer said Cedar Woods created the Williams
Landing Neighbourhood Grants program in recognition of the important role community groups played in building healthy and vibrant neighbourhoods.
“We are committed to supporting a wide range of community groups that enhance the social and environmental well-being of Williams Landing and neighbouring suburbs,” Mr Archer said.
“It’s the community spirit and efforts of these organisations that make the local area such a great place to live,” he said.
Grants of $500, $1,000 or $2,000 are available to not-for-profit community groups in the areas of Altona, Altona Meadows, Hoppers Crossing, Laverton, Point Cook, Seabrook, Truganina, Tarneit, Werribee and Williams Landing.
A committee of local community leaders will select the successful applicants and inform them in October.
Applications close 21 August 2013.
