WENDY’S garden has been in full bloom over the past 22 years, transforming a bare backyard into a luscious fernery.
The avid gardener said her cottage was also sprawled with nearly every flower from roses, carnations, lilies to orchards.
“When I moved in, there was nothing at this house expect a geranium growing into the spouting,” she said.
“But now I have gardening on all four sides.
“My dad always had a lovely garden, I think its been inherited as it goes down the line.”
Wendy said the garden had been her labour of love.
“I wouldn’t say it’s the best garden in Werribee, but it’s one I love,” she said.
“It’s a joy and you never have any evil thoughts when you are in the garden.
“If I find a plant that I like, I will find a spot for it but my garden is getting to the chock-a-block stage.”
Wendy said her burgeoning garden was due to soil preparation and abiding by the water restrictions.
She has also picked up tips over the past year from the Gardeners of Wyndham club.
Her fellow gardeners meet every Wednesday at the Old Shire offices in Watton St from 7pm.
The guest speaker for their next meeting will be John Forrester from the Werribee River Association.
