THE fairytale has ended for Wyndham Vale but the season cannot be described as anything less than a resounding success.
But it was Albanvale who emerged victorious, holding off a fast-finishing Falcons to win by three points, 13.13 (91) to 13.10 (88). Michael Lindsey kicked seven goals for the Cobras in a dominant performance.
Albanvale will take on Deer Park in the Division Two grand final, and will attempt to reverse the thrashing it copped at the hands of the Lions in the qualifying final.
No team has beaten Deer Park this year, and it would take a very brave person to tip against the all-conquering Lions, who seem destined to be promoted to Division One next season.
Wyndham Vale can only be admired for their season. Eight weeks ago, it seemed unlikely that the Falcons would make finals, let alone be less than a goal from a grand final berth.
