YARRAVILLE Village got into the spring of things last week in an attempt to breathe new life into the shopping district.
Traders opened their doors until 9pm on 1 September to welcome in Spring with a bunch of discounts and offers, with some donating a percentage of their profits to the Yarraville Special Development School.
“We’re trying to promote a ‘shop local’ vibe in Yarraville,” Krissa Jansson from the Sun Theatre said.
“Times are a bit tough, so all the traders are trying to get together and do some local activities to get people back into the village.”
Ms Jansson said Yarraville traders had also set up their own Facebook page and plan on establishing a trader’s association in coming months.
“There’s a few new traders, there’s quite a few old traders, so this is about getting people to communicate and meet each other, then we’ll go from there to get a formal traders’ association together,” she said.
