Altona will take on Spotswood in the preliminary final and will be desperate to atone for its 96-point loss to the Woodsmen in the qualifying final.
Port Melbourne, whose late season form suggested a side capable of upsetting the apple cart, will rue a failure to capitalise on a 33-point third-quarter lead.
But the Vikings, with the aid of a strong breeze, bagged seven goals and kept Port Melbourne scoreless in the last quarter.
Ruckman Liam Gardiner was sensational for Altona, while Jason Clarke booted five goals for Port Melbourne.
The winner of the Altona versus Spotswood match, to be played at Avalon Airport Oval this Saturday, will take on Albion in the grand final.
IN the Division One reserves, Hoppers Crossing defeated Sunshine 6.13 (49) to 5.12 (42) to advance to the grand final.
Sunshine will take on Albion in the preliminary final on Saturday, after Albion comfortably defeated Spotswood 12.16 (88) to 3.6 (24).
