Jobs boost

THE State Minister for Manufacturing has hailed the creation of 50 new jobs in Truganina as a win for the West.
In parliament recently, Minister Richard Dalla-Riva said he was joined by Western region MLC Andrew Elsbury at the opening of Extrusions Australia’s $11.5 million plant.
Previously, the business operated in Laverton North and when full production is reached at its new site, the company will employ around 100 workers – double their prior workforce.
“It was fantastic to have Mr Elsbury join me at the opening of this facility for the design and manufacture of aluminium extrusion profiles for commercial and residential window and door fabricators,” Mr Dalla-Riva said.
“This is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
“I remind members in the chamber that as the premier manufacturing state in Australia we need to be ahead of the pack in terms of streamlining manufacturing processes and boosting our productivity improvements.”
Mr Dalla-Riva congratulated the Victorian Government Business Office, located in Sunshine, for “working to help support this significant expansion by Extrusions Australia through training assistance for new jobs and exploring solar power options for the new facility”.
“I congratulate Extrusions Australia on this major new investment in its future as a competitive Victorian manufacturer,” he said.
