WERRIBEE residents who have long been frustrated with poor mobile phone reception will be happy to hear the area is one of the first in Victoria to receive a much needed equipment upgrade.
Vodafone announced last week that it will be upgrading network equipment in the area, making it capable of receiving 2G, 3G and later 4G from a single base station site.
A Vodafone spokesperson said the move aims to improve call quality and provide more reliable mobile broadband connections with greater capacity.
It is the first of two network programs that will be rolled out across Werribee this year.
Vodafone’s state manager for Victoria and Tasmania, Mark Hutchings, said residents could expect improved service from the company.
“The equipment upgrade that we are rolling out in the Werribee area is one of the network programs we have planned, but not the only program,” Mr Hutchings said.
“Later this year we will be introducing other new technologies and capacity into the network which should bring better coverage and faster data speeds than before from Vodafone.”
Following the equipment upgrade, Vodafone will spend the next four to six weeks drive-testing and tuning the network in the area to optimise performance and deliver a better customer experience of the network.
