A new singing school has opened in Hoppers Crossing giving hopeful singers a chance to be heard.
Singing teacher from the David Jaanz Singing School, Cassandra Ames, is thrilled about the new location.
“I am very excited and proud to be the teacher of the Hoppers Crossing location, and I believe that singing is a great outlet of creativity and relaxation for everyone,” Ms Ames said.
“We didn’t really have a location down here and there is so much talent.”
Ms Ames said students will engage in lessons based on the school’s renowned emotion-centred singing technique.
“I think it’s a very important technique because when you sing a song you obviously want someone to feel something and you also want to connect with the song,” she said.
“It’s really about giving an honest performance.”
Popular Australian singers like Delta Goodrem, Sarah DeBono, Matt Corby and Bonnie Anderson have all been coached by the David Jaanz Singing School.
“They started when they were young and they grew up with the emotion-centred technique,” Ms Ames said.
“They are pros at doing that now, singing with that emotion. That’s why they are so successful at what they do.”
Ms Ames too was coached by head coach and CEO of the school, David Jaanz.
“He is a phenomenal coach, one of the best in Australia,” Ms Ames said.
Apart from technique training Ms Ames said students learn to work with professional equipment.
“We want our students to perform and practice with the best quality equipment,” she said.
The school enters many competitions and holds Open Mic singing nights, annual camps and showcases at the end of each year.
Ms Ames said hopeful singers need to be motivated and stay true to themselves.
“Follow your dreams, be honest with yourself when you’re singing and sing from the heart,” Ms Ames said.
“Don’t ever give up it. It is hard work; just keep pushing until you get there. And the main thing is don’t be scared to be different.”
