A TARNEIT student was lucky enough to experience what a career in the Defence Force would be like when he took part in a program with 50 other students.
Dilan Ismail from Thomas Carr College recently did work experience with the 4th Combat Service Support Battalion (4CSSB) at the Maygar Barracks in Broadmeadows.
The students who took part in the event were 15 years of age or older and they were given the chance to experience a range of careers available in the defence force.
A spokesperson said the day gave the students invaluable experience.
“Thirteen reservists from 4CSSB took time out of their normal work lives to assist with delivering the program,” the spokesperson said.
“The program at Maygar Barracks offered students an insight into the roles and responsibilities of Australian soldiers.
“Students participated in a variety of activities including first aid lessons, team building activities, military history, an obstacle course, navigation in the field, camouflage and concealment and firearms training.”
