WYNDHAM residents living with dangerous health risks are the target of a new initiative.
The Heart Foundation announced late last month that it will be launching its Heartmoves exercise program in Wyndham on 16 October.
Heart Foundation CEO, Kelly-Ann Jolly, said the Heartmoves initiative was open to everyone and has been developed specifically for people who have health risk factors or stable chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and bone or joint problems.
“It is also suitable for people who haven’t exercised for a long time,” Ms Jolly said.
“Heartmoves focuses on delivering safe, low-to-moderate intensity exercise incorporating gentle aerobic activity, weight-bearing or resistance exercise and stretching – all of which help to build strength and improve balance.”
The Heartmoves program will be formally launched and run at Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre and classes will be held on Tuesdays from 2 to 3pm.
Social Development Manager at Wyndham Council, Heather Johnson, said the introduction of Heartmoves was goof for Wyndham.
“We are very excited to see Heartmoves launching in Wyndham – it’s a fantastic program that can offer great health benefits to people who may have previously felt worried about exercising, or unable to exercise,” Ms Johnson said.
