THE biggest sporting club in Wyndham has done their bit to support the wider community.
The Werribee Football Club and its social venue, The Tigers Clubhouse, recently donated seven defibrillator units to other local sporting clubs free of charge.
More than $20,000 was spent on the potentially lifesaving equipment, which will go to Werribee Cricket Club, Werribee Centrals Sports Club, Glenorden Sports Club, Laverton Cricket Club, Hoppers Crossing Netball Association, Old Westbourne Football Club and Werribee Giants Baseball Club.
Tigers Clubhouse General Manager Julie Shelton and Werribee CEO Mark Penaluna handed out the units and clubs were then involved in a training session.
“We believe this is an important part of our community programs and helps local clubs to be better equipped to assist their members and supporters at no cost to them,” Mr Penaluna said.
“This is on top of our Tiger Sports Assist Program which is underway now and will see $50,000 shared between local sports clubs who sign up before June 30.”
