A WYNDHAM child with a love for cooking has used her connections to help other children learn about her passion.
Nine-year-old Georgia Legudi told her mother several months ago that she wanted to be a celebrity chef.
Her mother, Nicole Smith, just happened to be the Community Development Officer at the Yerambooee Community Centre in Hoppers Crossing.
After hearing what her daughter’s dreams were, Ms Smith decided to start offering a kids cooking class at the community centre.
“Georgia’s always had an interest in cooking,” Ms Smith said.
“I didn’t say anything to her and then one day she just said she wanted to be on Masterchef.”
The idea has now evolved into two separate classes, one for children aged seven to 10 and one for kids aged 11 to 15 years.
Ms Smith said the kids learned how to cook both a main and a desert in every class and at the end of each class they set up a restaurant to serve their food in.
The budding chefs are taught how to stock a basic pantry and also learn about health and safety in the kitchen, including the importance of washing their hands.
The classes are run every Tuesday evening. For more information call 9748 9310 or email info@yerambooee.org.au.
