WERRIBEE was the second most mobile savvy place in the nation, with one of the highest penetration of mobile shoppers, according to new PayPal Australia data.
PayPal Australia found that online shoppers in Werribee were the second most mobile savvy in Australia based on percentage of total purchases online.
Hoppers Crossing also made it into the top 20 list and was ranked sixth in the nation.
PayPal Australia spokesperson Emily Birks said Werribee and Hoppers Crossing residents, just like more and more Australians, were embracing mobile shopping.
“People can go to the shops if they want to and see and be inspired, but on their mobile they have the convenience of shopping from home,” Ms Birks said.
Ms Birks said mobile shopping was an increasing trend because it inspired consumers to shop anytime and anywhere at their own leisure.
She said it also was a good way to avoid the long Christmas shopping queues.
“Mobile shopping is definitely a trend that we’ve seen a big spike in,” Ms Birks said.
PayPal Australia predicted that one in three mobile transactions this Christmas shopping period will take place on a mobile device compared to one in five last year.
“It’s becoming more of a trend that people are relying on their mobile device to do a number of daily activities, it’s only natural for that to extend to shopping,” she said.
PayPal urged Werribee shoppers to remember to stay safe when shopping online, especially in the lead up to Christmas.
