A FRESH face will be taking the reins at the South Western Melbourne Medicare Local in Werribee.
Gaylene Coulton has been appointed as the CEO of the SWMML following a national recruitment campaign.
“With a strong and diverse background across the primary health care sector, Gaylene brings to the role an impressive track record of successfully transforming health care organisations,” SWMML Board Chair Rennis Witham said.
“Gaylene’s vast clinical and executive management experience is complemented by her passion and commitment to primary care. In a career dedicated to improving the health of the community, her values based leadership has seen the successful modernization of numerous health care organizations.”
Ms Coulton began her healthcare career working in Brisbane, Perth and Cairns and specialising in domiciliary palliative care for several years. She then entered the post graduate clinical education sector, writing palliative care and multidisciplinary community practice curriculum.
Ms Coulton said she was excited for the challenges ahead of her.
“As Wyndham is a major growth corridor, SWMML aims to make a positive impact on the coordination of competing and high demand for services,” Ms Coulton said.
“I am excited at myriad opportunities open to deliver health care system change and quality care coordination to our local communities.”
Ms Coulton said the main role of the Medicare Local was to coordinate the primary health care services to help patients better navigate the health care system and to design and build services to fill the gaps in the delivery of primary care services.
