EASTER has arrived early at Foodbank Victoria.
The Yarraville warehouse received a delivery of nearly 300,000 Easter eggs last week as part of a Cadbury 1.1 million Easter egg donation across Foodbank in Australia.
This is the second year Cadbury has donated Easter eggs to Foodbank Australia, which is the country’s largest hunger relief organisation.
“Cadbury believes everyone deserves to experience the magic of Easter, especially those who may be going through a challenging time and we are pleased to partner with Foodbank Australia again this year,” Cadbury spokesperson Julia Fraser said.
Not-for-profit community groups will commence collecting the Cadbury Easter eggs this week to be distributed to their wider networks in time for Easter.
“Our agencies often say to us that during special times of the year… they feel as though the families they support miss out because they can’t afford to go out and buy Easter eggs,” Foodbank Victoria CEO Ric Benjamin said.
“The fact that Cadbury has been able to provide these Easter eggs means that everyone in Victoria this year, regardless of their circumstances, is going to be able to have a little Easter cheer.”
Foodbank Australia distributes around 21 million kilograms of food each year to thousands of charities nationally.
The majority of Foodbank Australia’s donations are surplus food goods from both supermarkets and food manufacturers.
