A magical bean stalk will grow in the heart of Altona as the Altona City Theatre prepares to launch its production Jack and the Beanstalk.
A young cast of local primary school and university students will lead the pantomime this year.
Director Cody O’Prey said the audience can expect the production to be magical.
“I just keep coming back to that word magic,” Mr O’Prey said.
“The magic of the sets and the sounds and the acting all combined together, they all intertwine very well.”
The production will be one of the biggest of its kind.
“Bigger stages, bigger sounds and more fun choreography.”
Producer Mark Crick said the audience will be amazed by the performances.
“Fantastic acting, the cast are absolutely amazing,” Mr Crick said.
Audiences can expect to see big scary giants, colourful costumes and the magical bean stalk.
“It’s going to be very ‘wow’,” Mr Crick said.
“The bean stalk will blow you away with the way it grows.”
Main actor Dylan Mazurek, who portrays Jack, said a highlight for him was working with the great props.
“I think climbing the bean stalk for the first time was pretty fun,” Mr Mazurek said.
Mr Mazurek said the production is not something audiences would expect from a usual pantomime.
“The set is magical. We have floating platforms and the lighting is great and there are great effects,” he said.
The show will open on the 8 March and will run until the 23 March at the Altona City Theatre, 115 Civic Parade, Altona. Tickets are $7. For ticket purchases call or SMS 0425 705 550.
