Curtain opens on theatre season

IT SEEMS that there really is no business like show business with Wyndham’s theatre lovers buzzing following the launch of the 2013 season.

More than 350 patrons visited the Wyndham Cultural Centre last week as nine main theatre shows, five music series shows, three children’s shows and two special events were launched.

Guests mingled with actors, producers and performer Tom Burlinson, who flew in from Sydney to perform two Sinatra songs from his show Now We’re Swinging – which is part of next year’s Theatre Season.

Mayor Heather Marcus, who attended the event, said the 2013 season featured something for everyone.

“It doesn’t matter whether you like drama or musicals, whether you’re young or old, there’s something for everyone at the Wyndham Cultural Centre in 2013,” Cr Marcus said.

“You don’t need to drive all the way into the City to see world class performances; they’re all here on your doorstep. People who purchase subscription packages to five or more shows can receive substantial savings, making it an affordable way to stay entertained.

“The Wyndham Cultural Centre offers a world-class theatre with free local parking, restaurants nearby and a bar and art gallery available in the foyer to enjoy before the show.”

Last year 23,783 people came to see performances at the cultural centre, according the Wyndham Council.
