A DETERMINED Deer Park North Primary School outfit toppled Resurrection Primary by one point in the grand final of an inaugural round-robin football day.
The two teams joined fellow primary schools Kings Park, Albanvale, Movelle, Deer Park, Deer Park West and St Peter Chanel for the Friday clash, that saw Kings Park Reserve host two 20-minute games at a time.
Each school played between three to four games over the day.
The best and fairest from each game received their own footballs and other giveaways courtesy of Footscray Football Club, while each school nominated its own best and fairest for the day.
St Albans Sports Club President Des Barnard was thrilled with the success of the day, and said the club will get a perpetual shield if the day becomes an annual event.
“The kids had a ball. It’s the first time we had anything like that and it went off like clockwork, it was terrific.”
“They’re looking at doing the same thing next year, they had such a great day.”
The eight schools traditionally square off against each other in the annual Victorian Primary Schools Association football competition, which was cancelled last year due to ground unavailability.
