Moves to curb parking

MARIBYRNONG City Council has installed fixed cameras on some of Footscray’s busiest streets to curb illegal and unsafe parking.
Cameras have been installed on Barkly/Hopkins streets between Leeds and Moore streets, Leeds St between Hopkins and Byron streets and on Nicholson St between Irving and Paisley streets.
More cameras will be installed in the next two years according to the number of offences.
The cameras capture photos of motorists breaching road and traffic rules. The photos identify the car’s registration details, making it easy for the council to mail out infringement notices. The driver can view the photos on request.
