POLICE are investigating the death of a man following a boating accident near Point Cook earlier this month.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said it was believed that on Sunday 5 January three men were in a boat, about 800 metres off the shore, when they got into difficulty at around 5.45pm.
All three men managed to swim to the shore as the boat began to sink.
One of the men, who had not been identified at the time of writing, died at the scene a short time later.
The two other men were not injured.
“The exact cause of the man’s death is yet to be determined however it is not being treated a suspicious,” the spokesperson said.
“Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.”
