WERRIBEE is getting ready to play host to an event that will combine the best ingredients of a fun time, cider and cheese, celebrated by thousands of people.
For the first time ever next month the council will be hosting the Fromage a Trois festival, which will see the best cheeses and ciders from around the country brought to Werribee Park.
Councillor Michele Wharrie said visitors will have the chance to taste, purchase and experience some of Australia’s finest specialist cheeses, ciders, boutique beers, gourmet cuisine and premium wines.
“This is the perfect opportunity to bring a picnic blanket, a few friends and enjoy a lazy afternoon on the lawn discovering and sampling some of the very best in quality artisan produce,” Cr Wharrie said.
“Some of Australia’s premier cheese and cider producers will be there, so you can meet the maker and savour tastes from around Australia. Those looking to extend their experience can also attend a workshop and learn about the ancient crafts of cheese and cider making.”
Author, cider-maker and wine critic, Max Allen, will host masterclasses on perfect pairings for cheese and cider while Wyndham’s own Matt Harrop, from Werribee South’s Shadowfax Winery, will battle Max in the ultimate question – what is better with cheese, cider or wine?
“While you’re enjoying some mouthwatering delights, you’ll also be able to relax and soak up the sounds of some fantastic music that will be playing on the main stage throughout the afternoon – it’s the ideal day out.”
