THE first stages of a new revitalisation of a community hub in Wyndham is almost complete with Wyndham Council announcing works will be finished later this month.
Devco Projects and Construction Management has been undertaking the $3.4 million works at the Heathdale Community Centre.
Councillor Shane Bourke said the area was currently the site for many works.
“Wyndham City has recently completed a revegetation project at the Heathdale Glen Orden Wetlands and the construction of an AFL oval at Glen Orden Reserve is currently underway,” Cr Bourke said.
“The next phase of this work will be remodelling the existing Community Centre and this will begin in the next few months.”
Cr Bourke said when the works are complete, they will benefit all of Wyndham.
“When the centre opens it will be a real meeting place for the entire community. From maternal and child health facilities for families, to meeting rooms for the public, from a community kitchen for up and coming master chefs to consulting rooms for external agencies,” he said.
“I would like to thank users of the existing centre for their patience while these works were undertaken and I hope (they) enjoy the new facilities.”
When it is complete the hub will contain three community spaces, a community kitchen, a community learning room, a consulting room, a toy library and a refurbished maternal and child health centre.
