WYNDHAM Vale’s Simone Vinski, who hopes to become a stylist when she graduates from university, is already well on her way to a career in the glamorous industry.
The 21-year-old is studying Styling and Creative Direction at Whitehouse Institute of Design in Melbourne.
Ms Vinski said she was keen to get as much experience in the industry as possible, and volunteers to work with well-known stylists Franco Schifilliti and Sarah Banger whenever she can.
A pair of socks Ms Vinski selected, while shooting a film clip, have even adorned the feet of famous singer Kimbra, who is best known for collaborating with Gotye on the track ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ and winning the ARIA Best Female Artist 2011.
“My favourite project would be when I assisted Sarah Banger with the video clip for Kimbra’s Cameo Lover. It was the first time I had ever worked on a video clip,” Ms Vinski said.
Ms Vinski said when she finishes studying, she hopes to travel overseas and become a stylist for fashion, still-life and interior design projects.
“As everyone knows, fashion in general is a very competitive industry to get to, but I think the more passion and love you put into something things slowly fall into place,” she said.
“My dream job would be to work with a styling agency and be able to see my styled shoots in magazines all the time.”
Ms Vinski said her desire to be a stylist stemmed from her love of fashion and the fun she had co-ordinating costumes for media subjects, while in secondary school.
“As corny as it sounds I just realised how much I enjoyed putting outfits together, not only for myself but my friends too. I would bring clothes to photo shoots for media assessments that we had in high school and it was something that I grew to love,” she said.
