MORE than 50 years ago someone took a photo of an unimpressed looking baby in her finest white dress.
Can you guess which famous Australian this baby grew up to become?
The answer is Prime Minister Julia Gillard. The picture is believed to have been taken in March, 1962.
As she prepares to return to Wyndham for the annual Welcoming the Babies Ceremony, an old photo of Ms Gillard as a baby herself has been released for the first time.
Ms Gillard said the event, now its seventh year, was about acknowledging the hard work involved in raising a family and putting local parents in touch with the support and services available to them.
“I know that local families want to give their child the best possible start in life. This event is about welcoming the newest members of our community, and ensuring parents have the support they need to raise happy, healthy children,” Ms Gillard said.
Each family who attends the ceremony will receive a certificate and an information pack to assist during the challenging and exciting time of their child’s first year.
Places for the event, which will be held in late May, are limited.
For more information call Ms Gillard’s office on 9742 5800 or visit the office at 2/36 Synnot Street Werribee to register your baby.
