MEMBERS of Wyndham’s future workforce are being encouraged to take part in a new event that could become an important stepping stone in their careers.
MultiSkills Training, a new Werribee business providing instruction and training, will be holding two information seminars in the lead up to pre-apprenticeship Certificates II that they will be offering in carpentry and bricklaying.
Nick DiSanto recently completed his Certificate II in carpentry and has since started his apprenticeship.
The 18-year-old said he always wanted to work in the construction industry.
“I always liked working outside,” Mr DiSanto said.
“I like designing things and building houses.”
Mr DiSanto said the extra training he received during his Certificate II helped him break into the industry.
“It taught me what happens on a work site and some of the things that bosses expect of you,” he said.
“It’s almost like a bit of head start and it gives you a boost in confidence.”
The information seminars will be held on Monday 3 June and Wednesday 5 June from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at MultiSkills Training in Riverside Avenue in Werribee.
Both Certificate II courses will be held over 15 weeks starting on 24 June.
