A NOT-FOR-PROFIT training group founded in the West hopes to create 50 new apprentices and trainees in as many days.
The WPC Group’s new campaign will run for six weeks, until 22 March.
The organisation is offering a rebate equal to four weeks’ apprentice or trainee wages, with a $1500 credit for businesses willing to hire school-leavers and mature-aged job-seekers.
The WPC Group CEO Nicholas Wyman said if young people were left out of the workforce, there would be long term social problems and a shortage of skilled employees for the country’s future.
“We hope that this offer will provide employers who are hesitating about taking on an apprentice or trainee with some extra incentive,” he said.
The ’50 New Apprentices in 50 Days’ will target plumbers, electricians, solar panel installers, hospitality skills, metal working, automotive, horticulture, building and construction.
Mr Wyman said under the scheme, the WPC Group will be the legal employer, saving employers the hassle of payroll, superannuation, WorkCover and administrative duties.
WPC would also supplies all personal protective equipment to the apprentices.
“We hope that employers will take this opportunity to partner with WPC Group so we can work together to build the skilled workforce you and your industry needs,” Mr Wyman said.
