WERRIBEE bounced back from a round one loss to score a 3-0 win over Yarra Valley at home on Saturday.
The Tigers are now 1-1 and were impressive under new coach Ryan Tout, scoring twice in the first half before sealing the win with the third goal after the break.
Sam Huxtable was the star, scoring two of the three goals on the day.
Captain Ross Cowlishaw said his side provided a much stronger showing than the previous week.
“It was a good day and a lot better than last week,” Cowlishaw said.
“Obviously in the first game everyone was a bit slow.
“This week we got the ball rolling within the first five minutes. We got two up on the scoreboard in the first half and then slotted the last one in the second half.
“We ran the ball well and used first-time options.”
Cowlishaw gave credit to his new coach Tout for instilling a new level of professionalism over the summer, and said he hoped it would convert into more wins this year.
“He’s brought across a lot of professionalism coming across from a Vic League One club,” Cowlishaw said of Tout.
“He’s brought in some video analysis and we’ve got three assistant coaches working on different things, stats and that sort of thing. Everyone’s worked on that and everyone’s improved on their own game and realised what they need to do to get to the next level.”
