WYNDHAM’S first ever private hospital has officially started welcoming patients, providing a previously non-existent service to the area.
Wyndham Clinic, located across from the Werribee Mercy Hospital and next to the Wyndham Private Medical Centre, is a 30 bed facility that will provide mental health care for patients.
CEO of the clinic, David Gibson, told Star that patients previously needed to travel to the Melbourne CBD or Geelong to receive the care they needed.
“This hospital has been in the planning for three years and it is a great result for our team to open the doors to our first patients after many months of work,” Mr Gibson said.
“Wyndham Clinic fills a large gap for greater Melbourne in the provision of mental health services with a full private mental health facility.”
Director of Techne Pty Ltd, the developer of Wyndham Clinic, Scott Vickers-Willis, told Star that the project added to the growth of Hoppers Lane as a booming medical precinct.
“You will now be able to get sick in Wyndham and be sorted out without leaving Wyndham,” Mr Vickers-Willis said.
“Hoppers Lane will be the epicentre of Wyndham.
“We look forward to welcoming St Vincent’s Private to Wyndham when they develop their private hospital and we look forward to announcing more projects for Wyndham in the future.”
Mr Gibson said the best practitioners had been recruited to work at the clinic and that a state-of-the-art day surgery facility would also open later this year.
