Syringe attack

VICTORIA Police have called on the public to help them catch a man that tried to hold up a Werribee cafe with a syringe in August.
As reported by Star on 12 September, the man entered Voltagejuice on Duncans Rd just after 6am on Wednesday 29 August.
The owner of the cafe, Chris, told Star at the time that the man demanded cash while waving what appeared to be a syringe at her.
Chris grabbed a meat cleaver and warned the man not to come any closer before he walked out of the cafe and ran away.
“I told him to go away and he just looked at me,” Chris said.
“It took him a while to register because I think he was out of it.
“He walked out the door and then he took off like a jack rabbit.”
A Victoria Police spokesperson said detectives from the Altona North Embona Task Force were investigating the incident.
“The man demanded cash but left the scene empty-handed and on foot,” the spokesperson said.
“He is described as being Caucasian and aged between 30 and 40 years, with short dark blonde or brown hair, blue eyes, and a thin build.
“He had a gaunt face with acne scars on his cheeks and a faded tattoo on his left wrist.”
Police released an image of the man they want to speak to last week.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
