AMBULANCE Victoria has warned people to be careful when operating nail guns after a man from Wyndham Vale was one of 11 people injured in accidents since May this year.
On 14 September a 20-year-old Wyndham Vale man was injured when he was shot in the foot with a nail gun.
Two of the 11 people injured had five centimetre nails lodged in their heads, while another pulled out a nail which had entered near his eye.
Ambulance Victoria paramedic team manager Shaun Columbine said people need to take care when using nail guns.
“It’s important that people realise how dangerous nail guns can be, and how easily accidents can happen,” he said.
“Anyone who has a foreign object like a nail embedded in their body should leave it in place and call 000.
“Pulling the nail out can cause more damage and lead to serious bleeding.”
