New school promise

POINT COOK has been promised a brand new prep to year nine college in the latest election promise form the Labor government.
Labor Member for Altona District, Jill Hennessy, announced that the college would be built to service south east Point Cook and the broader area.
Ms Hennessy said the school would be built at 86 Alamanda Blvd in Point Cook.
“This brand new school will give students a world-class learning environment and teachers the facilities to provide a world-class education,” Ms Hennessy said.
While Ms Hennessy did not provide a cost for building the school, she did point to Labor’s investments in education in the past.
“In this past term of Government, Labor has invested $1.9 billion to improve 553 schools, that’s 53 more than what was promised at the last election,” she said.
Ms Hennessy said the new South East P-9 College will hopefully accommodate up to 675 students on a 5.4 hectare site.
