A 27-YEAR-OLD Werribee man is among 19 people charged after police carried out a series of raids across the western suburbs last month.
Police searched 11 properties in Melton, Caroline Springs, Werribee and Mt Cottrell.
Stolen property, drugs, edged weapons, a handgun, capsicum spray, stun guns and ammunition were seized.
More than 71 burglaries were reported in the region last February.
Police charged 19 people with a total of 85 offences, including aggravated burglary, handling stolen goods, cultivating cannabis and trafficking drugs, and possessing proceeds of crime.
The Werribee man will appear at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 19 March.
Melton’s Detective Acting Sergeant Andrew Eyries said the investigations and search warrants came after members of the public and confidential sources provided information to investigators.
He said further searches were planned for the future.
