TWO Maribyrnong schools celebrated prominent milestones last week.
Footscray Primary School notched up 150 years of teaching last Friday, marking the milestone with a heritage day and commemorative assembly.
Students from Prep to Grade 6 took part in old-fashioned activities like sewing and acting out classes of the past.
The school opened on 13 August 1860 and catered for 60 students in its first year.
It now boasts 198 students, with nearly half the student population taking part in the school’s bilingual Vietnamese program.
Meanwhile, Braybrook Secondary College celebrated its 50th birthday with a day-long celebration of past and present students and memorabilia on Saturday.
The school opened in 1960.
