IT will be an event of dancing stars and vintage cars at the Heathglen retirement village this weekend with the opening of the newly refurbished community centre.
Village resident Lucy Howell, 93, who has been living at Heathglen since it opened in 1990, was looking forward to the re-opening where she will be cutting the official cake.
“She’s very excited,” said Heathglen Village Manager Beverly Vagg.
Ms Vagg said the new look community centre was an important meeting point for the residents, who enjoyed a range of activities and functions there.
“The residents are over the moon, they think it’s fabulous,” Ms Vagg said.
“It’s where all the functions are held and it’s an extension of their homes, where they can join together to enjoy dinner, entertainment, activities – it’s the hub of the village,” she said.
Wyndham Mayor Bob Fairclough will be there on the day to officially open the refurbished centre.
The wider community is also invited to join the day’s festivities, which include a Rock ‘n Roll dance show and a vintage car display.
“Heathglen is thrilled to invite the wider Werribee community to celebrate the re-opening of our community centre,” Ms Vagg said.
“It will be a great opportunity to meet our residents and see the changes taking place at our village.”
The Rock ‘n Roll day will be held on Saturday 22 February from 2pm to 4pm at 2 Glendale Court, Werribee.
