THE Celestial Tai Chi College is celebrating its 10th year in Werribee this year.
The college was founded in 1990 by two Chinese Masters and operates across 20 Centres around Victoria, including Werribee and Point Cook.
Werribee Celestial Tai Chi Instructor John Sindoni said he enjoys sharing the tranquillity of Tai Chi with the community.
“It’s gentle exercise and it’s a fun exercise to do,” Mr Sindoni said.
Wyndham residents are invited to enjoy free Tai Chi classes in the open air of the Werribee Piazza on the last Saturday of June.
“The idea of Tai Chi is that you’re out in nature, so you’re taking energy from the trees, skies, wind and so on,” Mr Sindoni said.
The college runs many outdoor sessions throughout winter and encourages participants to brave the weather and layer up to enjoy the classes.
“It’s fresh air and there’s nothing better for the lungs than having fresh air,” Mr Sindoni said.
The two hour session at the Piazza will be an introductory to Tai Chi.
Mr Sindoni said Tai Chi is a mind, body and soul experience.
“It’s beneficial for the mind, it gives an insight to correct breathing and assists with weight transfer which is very good to help you with balance,” he said.
“It helps with the wellbeing of a person, and once you’ve learnt the form through the sequence of movements, with correct posture and breathing, then you’re in a meditating state.”
