A BRAYBROOK student, Terry Tran, will display his VCE woodwork project at Melbourne Museum this week.
Mr Tran’s former Braybrook College design and technology, teacher, Meagan Welsh, nominated the 17-year-old’s work for the exhibition, which is entitled Top Designs.
“Braybrook College is the only school in the western suburbs that’s represented in the exhibition – it usually showcases the work of very elite schools,” Ms Welsh said.
“It is a great thing for us, we’ve never had a student exhibit their work at the Melbourne Museum.
“It is a tremendous achievement for Terry, our college and the western suburbs.”
Mr Tran completed his Year 12 studies last year and is now studying building design and technology at Victoria University in Newport.
Ms Welsh said she recognised Mr Tran’s talent when he first began woodwork classes in Year 7.
“His exhibition piece is a drawer unit, it is a unique piece and was his major folio piece for Year 12,” she said.
“He was a hard-working and dedicated student, putting time in on the weekends and school holidays to complete work.”
Mr Tran said he was excited that his work would be exhibited at the museum.
He said that as a child he enjoyed being creative and now wanted to be an architect.
“I’d like to draw house plans and be creative,” he said.
The exhibition will be open from 20 March to June at Melbourne Museum, Carlton Gardens, Melbourne.
