LEIGHTON Contractors have been awarded the second project contract of the Deer Park Bypass.
The $208.8 million contract will see the construction of the bypass from the Western Freeway at Caroline Springs to the Western Ring Rd in Sunshine West.
State and Federal roads ministers have praised the project saying the bypass is well ahead of schedule.
Victorian Minister for Roads and Ports Tim Pallas said the second contract was being awarded more than eight months early. Work will start early this year.
“The contract is for the design and construction of a 9.3 kilometre four-lane divided freeway including interchanges at the Western Ring Rd, Robinsons Rd and Christies Rd, with significant architectural noise walls and landscaping throughout,” Mr Pallas said.
