ONE man is believed to be responsible for two brazen daylight attacks around Laverton on Sunday morning.
The chain of events began when a man burgled an occupied home in Cuthbert St, Truganina, about 8.15am.
Police believe a man used a pickaxe from the backyard to smash open the rear door of the house.
A woman was inside at the time and fled to a neighbour’s home for help.
Two neighbours, a man and a woman, went to the house to search for the intruder.
The male neighbour confronted the offender in a back room of the house, but he fled in a white, earlymodel Holden Commodore sedan.
Police believe the same man and vehicle may also have been involved in a service station robbery on Fitzgerald Rd near the Kororoit Creek Rd intersection in Laverton North.
A man entered the service station just before 10am where it is alleged he produced a knife and made demands for cash.
He took a small quantity of money before fleeing in a white early model Holden Commodore sedan.
No one was injured in the incident.
The man was described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid20s, about 160cm and wearing a bandanna on his head.
Police believe the two incidents were linked. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
