BRIMBANK City Council has applied for Federal Government funding to help cover the cost of installing traffic lights at the intersection of Taylors Rd and Copperfield Dr in Delahey.
Last week the council announced it would apply to the Federal Black Spot Funding Program for up to $160,000 to help fund the new traffic light works, which are set to cost an estimated $310,000.
The council will provide the rest of the funding ($150,000) if the application is successful.
According to Brimbank mayor Natalie Suleyman, traffic flow along Taylors Rd has increased since it has been connected to new developments in Melton East.
This is the second year in a row the council has asked for funding from the Federal Black Spot Program, which is designed to target hazardous roads right across Australia.
