FOOTSCRAY residents will be given an opportunity next week to comment on the State Government’s ability to cater for the needs of multicultural communities.
Footscray has been chosen as one of 13 locations across the state for the Victorian Multicultural Commission public consultations.
The public meetings have been organised to provide feedback on a report released on the multicultural programs co-ordinated by the Government.
Ethnic and religious communities from across the city are welcome to attend the meeting and have been encouraged to read the report, Victorian Government Achievements in Multicultural Affairs 2005-06, and share their views on the matters discussed in the document.
The report includes information on programs, interpreting and translating services in public hospitals and other government offices, government grants to community organisations and specific services and initiatives that cater to the needs of multicultural communities.
To register interest for the Footscray meeting, on Thursday 30 August, contact the Victorian Multicultural Commission on 9208 3166. The event will be held at the council reception room on the corner of Napier and Hyde streets from 2pm to 4pm.
