AS a proud Werribee resident of nine years I brag about how wonderful Werribee is to live in, and yet it only takes a drive to the CBD to witness how our city is starting to look drab and dirty.
On the recent cleanup day, people from primary school kids to older community members cleaned up after the lessresponsible residents who have little pride in their city.
We can be extremely proud of these young children who give their time on a Saturday and they have learnt a valuable lesson that it takes all ages in the community to make a difference in keeping the city clean.
These children already have respect for their community by giving their time in such cleanup days. They should get personal recognition and we should be proud of them.
On offensive graffiti, the community needs to realise we all have a role in halting this insidious behaviour. Report it to the police as it is our rates that are spent cleaning up this mess.
To these offending, irresponsible people, what gives you the right to deface anyone’s property? This is property vandalism and it is a crime.
Werribee businesses who financially support the graffiti cleanup need support and the community should recognise their patronage. The residents have to take the lead in changing this unacceptable behaviour and become proactive in dealing with growing graffiti crime.
Stand up and fight for a clean community.
